This is also our big kickoff to WEEKLY Saturday clinics at Hawthorne Yoga & Reiki!  There will be raffles and on-the-spot appointments immediately following the event.  We’ll also have Gift Certificates available for purchase.  Please join us for the celebration!

Meet our Newest Practitioners, Leigh and Melissa

With the addition of weekly Monday evenings at Hawthorne Yoga and Reiki comes space for 4 more practitioners to bring you affordable high quality Bodywork.

We would like to start by announcing Reiki Master Practitioner Leigh Seeleman and Reiki Master Teacher Melissa Ameika.  Both are graduates of The Reiki School + Clinic of Philadelphia, and Leigh is currently continuing her studies at The Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia. She may look familiar from her work as a front desk superhero at Philadelphia Community Acupuncture.  Melissa Ameika currently shines as a loving Reiki volunteer at The Abramson Cancer Center at HUP, supporting people who are currently fighting cancer.

Welcome Leigh and Melissa, we’re happy to have you and wish you both abundant success!

A benefit for the African Village Survival Initiative

The Philadelphia Bodywork Collective will be offering Reiki and chair massage for $1/minute.  Stop by for an inexpensive treat while you enjoy one of Philly’s most fun Flea Markets!

There will be music, vendors, food and fun in West Philadelphia’s beautiful and vibrant Clark Park-you never know what you’ll find or who you’ll meet!  There is a children’s playground and dog park nearby, and plenty of space to set up a picnic.   Come early and shop the Farmer’s Market.  The number 13 Trolley puts you right there.

Available for sale will be Vanessa’s NirvanaLand Wellness all natural artisan bodycare products and Danielle’s Gem Essences.

This is an OUTDOOR event, and will take place weather permitting.

Affordable Bodywork-coming soon to Philadelphia!

The Philadelphia Bodywork Collective will begin treating clients June 20, 2009 at Hawthorne Yoga & Reiki.

Our mission is to provide quality and affordable energywork & bodywork to all on a sliding scale basis.

We believe that the healing arts are a necessity. Everyone no matter what their background or income level should have access to quality massage therapy, reiki, shiatsu, and other holistic health modalities.  We are a group of certified practitioners that believe that social entrepreneurship combined with bodywork can change not only our community but the world at large.

How we make it happen:

Our approach is simple-we get back to our roots!

All of the services offered are on a sliding scale basis and offered in a community setting (an open room with no partitions or dividers). Offering energywork and bodywork in the open is reminiscent of the healing spaces in ancient cultures and traditions. Many of these services were (and still are in some countries) offered in an open room. One benefit being that both the client and practitioner can fully benefit from the healing energies being offered by all in the space. Another plus is, with multiple practitioners sharing one space, it keeps the overhead low; therefore we can afford to offer bodywork for less than what is normally charged. In all of the energy and bodywork we offer, the client is fully clothed. There is no risk of exposure at all.

Hawthorne Yoga & Reiki is located at 1241 Carpenter Street in South Philadelphia.  It is easily reached by mass transit (Broad Street Line, Bus routes 64, 29, 32, 23, c)

All treatments are by appointment only. Each practitioner sets their own appointments, price scale, and other policies.  To book an appointment, you must contact the practitioner you wish to see directly or email phillybodyworkcollective@gmail.com, and we will have your practitioner contact you.
